Nate's Noisy Nose
Nate's Noisy Nose is a heart-warming and funny picture book about an ordinary kid with a musical nose!
Nate’s noisy nose makes him the centre of attention wherever he goes – at home, at school, and out and about – but not always in a good way!
Amid the chaos, Nate’s longing for peace grows stronger. If only he could find silence and slip under the radar like a regular kid.
Nate’s loyal furry friend, Rascal, is by his side, ready to help him snuffle out solutions. Will Rascal's devotion be the key to Nate’s noisy problem, or will a team of brilliant doctors and scientists come to the rescue?
This noisy, interactive book is more than just a funny tale of a musical nose; it's a celebration of friendship, loyalty, creativity, and finding solutions when life gets a little too loud.

We need more really funny, laugh out loud books in the world, and Nate's Noisy Nose is one of the best. Yes there are underlying messages of friendship, loyalty, creativity, and problem solving, but the hilarity that ensues throughout this great book - superbly complemented by the illustrations - is the real hero. Love it! Frances Mackay and Dotti Colvin are always a winning combination.
When I shared this with my children, they thought it was hilarious. They particularly loved the part where Nate sneezes (I won’t spoil it for you). Nate’s nose really is unique and along with his dog Rascal he is a loveable character.
I enjoyed this book very much. The story follows Nate and his four legged friend Rascal. Nate has a something special about him but it gets him into trouble. Children will love this story especially if they like yucky topics and solving problems. It's also proactive which will hold your child's attention. Follow Nate as he tries to fathom out how to solve his noisy nose problem!
Nate's Noisy Nose ticks all the boxes for a fun and interactive picture book. The illustrations are hilarious and children will love making the sounds that come out of Nate's nose. But when the noise starts to bother everyone Nate finds himself alone with his faithful dog Rascal who does end up saving the day.
Nate’s Noisy Nose is a lively story of nonsense, humour, and quirks. With geeks who tinker and tamper, to scientists who poke and prod, this book is full of creative chaos. It is cleverly written with playful alliteration and onomatopoeia that makes reading exciting and engaging, especially for children who love to make noise.
Highlighting themes of sound, friendship, embracing our uniqueness, and finding positive solutions, Nate’s Noisy Nose is a musical masterpiece with an unexpected ending that children will LOVE!

A laugh-out-loud tale

Children’s sense of humour, especially when it comes to sounds and funny faces, is not just a stage; research shows that early humour helps develop cognitive skills, empathy, and confidence. Nate’s Noisy Nose celebrates these traits with a heartwarming, interactive story that makes the most of children’s instinctive delight in sound, chaos, and self-discovery. Nate, a young boy with an extraordinarily noisy nose, tries to live a normal life despite his unusual trait, often with hilarious results. With support from his family and a dash of ingenuity, Nate’s journey reflects both the fun and frustration of having a unique characteristic that is hard to hide. His story warmly reinforces that differences are to be cherished, not silenced.

The book excels in bringing its characters to life through a playful, sound-centred narrative that’s ideal for reading aloud, making it perfect for family time or group settings. Its visual presentation is captivating, with each page illustrated to amplify the text’s musical onomatopoeia, like Nate’s “TOOTLES” and “WHISTLES,” practically encouraging children to join in. Children will find themselves giggling, especially as Nate’s nose creates chaos wherever he goes, from his bedroom to the shopping mall, and even at the zoo. A favourite moment in the book is when Nate’s family gets inventive in trying to make his noisy nose liveable, a scenario both relatable and funny, showcasing the book’s knack for grounding whimsical moments in real-life feelings.

In all my efforts, I couldn’t find a single flaw in this delightful book. While very young readers may need help with a few multi-syllable words, Nate’s Noisy Nose will enchant children who enjoy vibrant, sound-filled stories with big-hearted characters and silly surprises. Parents and educators looking for stories about embracing differences or anyone who has loved Mo Willems’ playful, sound-driven humor will be drawn to this tale.

Nate’s Noisy Nose adds a joyful, resounding note to children’s literature. Its originality and charm make it an unforgettable addition to any child’s bookshelf, echoing a symphony of laughter and encouragement to embrace who you are, quirks and all. It is more than a story; it’s an invitation to enjoy life’s silliness and recognize that a little noise can make the world a better place.

Have you ever sneezed so loud it made your dog bark? Now imagine if your nose made all kinds of crazy sounds, like honks and whistles, every single day. That’s Nate’s life in Nate’s Noisy Nose by Frances Mackay, and it’s as funny as it sounds. Right from the first page, I was laughing out loud. Seriously, the noises his nose makes are so wild, you can almost hear them jumping off the page!

The story follows Nate, a regular kid…except for his totally not-regular nose. His nose is LOUD. It makes noises everywhere—at home, at school, even at the zoo! At first, his noisy nose is kind of cool. But when the noise starts causing problems, Nate tries to fix it—spoiler alert: it’s not easy. Then comes Gabby the Geek, an inventor who might just have the answer. I won’t tell you what happens, but trust me, the ending is a mix of chaos and happiness in the best way.

What I love most about this book is how much fun it is to read out loud. The sound effects are so silly that kids (and probably grown-ups too) won’t be able to resist shouting them. Plus, the pictures are super colorful and make every noisy moment even funnier. The story has a great message, too—it’s all about being okay with who you are, even if you’re a little different.

This book is pure fun from start to finish, with nothing scary or serious to worry about.
Reading Nate’s Noisy Nose is like blowing into a whoopee cushion—it’s hilarious, surprising, and you’ll want to do it again and again! If you like books that make you laugh out loud, this one’s a total winner.
